As an introduction to the Convention theme of “Weathering the Cycles,” the Opening Session will feature a keynote address by Scott Tinker titled “Change is Good!  Making the Most of Volatility.”  GCAGS President Bonnie Weise will be joined by GCSSEPM President John Holbrook and General Chairman Lyle Baie in welcoming attendees, and AAPG President Dave Rensink will give a brief address.  During the Awards Ceremony, GCAGS and GCSSEPM will honor deserving individuals for their outstanding achievements and service to these organizations.  GCAGS Awards and Nominations Chairman Barry Wawak and GCSSEPM Judging and Awards Chairman Mike Nault will assist with the presentation of awards.  Awards and recipients are as follows:

• The 2010 Transactions will be dedicated in memory of Edward C. Roy, Jr.
• The 2009 A. I. Levorsen Memorial Award will be presented to John B. Wagner.
• The 2009 Thomas A. Philpott Excellence of Presentation Award will be presented to:  1st Place to William A. Ambrose, Tucker F. Hentz, Florence Bonnaffé, Robert G. Loucks, and Fred P. Wang; 2nd Place to Steven Losh, Daniel Swart, and Andrew Dickinson; and 3rd Place to Vishal Maharaj and Lesli J. Wood.
• The 2009 Gordon I. Atwater Best Poster Award will be presented to:  1st Place to Hannah Vedrines, Carl Richter, and William P. Schramm; 2nd Place to Ignacio Pujana, Nolan Shaw, Jr., and Patricia F. DuBois; and 3rd Place to Amy L. Spaziani and Gregory W. Stone. 
• The 2009 Grover E. Murray Best Published Paper Award in the Transactions, Volume 58, will be presented to:  1st Place to Bryan P. Stephens; 2nd Place to Minghua Ren, Robert Stern, Brian E. Lock, Randy Griffin, Elizabeth Y. Anthony, and Ian Norton; and 3rd Place to Robert A. Morton and Charles W. Holmes.
• The 2010 GCSSEPM Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Anthony E. D’Agostino and Patricia A. Santogrossi.
• The 2010 GCSSEPM Honorary Membership will be presented to Denise M. Butler and Rashel N. Rosen.
• The 2010 GCSSEPM Doris Malkin Curtis Medal will be presented to Arnold H. Bouma and Harry H. Roberts.
• The 2010 GCAGS Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Steve H. Hill and Richard H. Sams.
• The 2010 GCAGS Honorary Membership will be presented to Thomas E. Ewing.
• The 2010 GCAGS Outstanding Educator Award will be presented to Janok P. Bhattacharya and Perry O. Roehl.
• The 2010 GCAGS Imperial Barrel Award (previously awarded):  1st Place to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; 2nd Place to the University of Texas at Austin; and 3rd Place to the Louisiana State University.
• The 2010 GCAGS Don R. Boyd Medal for Excellence in Gulf Coast Geology will be presented to Edward B. Picou, Jr.
