Considered to be the most beautiful neighborhood in all of Texas, the King William District, with all its tree-lined avenues, recalls a more gracious era. Prosperous German merchants, who made their fortunes in San Antonio in the late 1800s, built the grand homes of this area. Their homes are proof of their success and showcased ornately carved wood, delicately scrolled ironwork, and beautiful landscaping.
The Edward Steves Homestead is a stately, three-story mansion, located in the historical King William District on the east bank of the San Antonio River. It was built in 1876 for Edward Steves, founder of the Steves Lumber Company, and has been maintained since 1954 as a historic house museum.
Guenther House, the elegant home of Pioneer Flour Mills’ founding family, is located at the foot of the oldest historical district in Texas, the King William District along the San Antonio River. This stately home has been completely restored. Lunch on the Rooftop is provided along with a docent to give a history of the house, while having desert. The San Antonio River Mill Store showcases products used in the restaurant and much more!
After lunch, Richard Ramirez, a native of San Antonio, who grew up in the King William District will lead a walking tour of part of the neighborhood, providing family stories and neighborhood tales of some of the prominent families he knew in his childhood.

Looking for something new to experience in San Antonio? Round out your San Antonio experience by boarding our very own private chartered River cruiser.
In May of 2009, San Antonio celebrated the opening of a new 1.3 mile expansion of the River Walk known as the Museum Reach. This section of the river is home to public art installations, which features local, national, and international artists. Each is unique and most are linked to a bridge or overpass and include waterfall, audio, and kinetic elements.
Wind your way past the San Antonio Museum of Art, now housed in the old Lone Star Brewery. Enjoy the magnificent architectural style of the buildings and views of the sculpture garden. Experience the only lock and dam system in the State of Texas. Designed to use the existing water pressure, the dam helps to overcome a 9’ variance in the channel.
One of the only remaining evidences of our French heritage can be seen in the French gothic style of the Ursuline Academy established in 1851 by French Ursuline nuns on the banks of the San Antonio River.
The turning point of the Museum Reach is the Pearl Brewery, built on the banks of the San Antonio River in 1883, utilizing the spring fed water to brew the refreshing, cold beer. Now the 22 acre, urban facility is a redevelopment project that has maintained the industrial quality of the historic site while creating livable space to dine, live, learn, and shop.
The charter will return back to the Grand Hyatt for lunch on your own.
